Women Golf Around the World is Growing!

Golf has been riding a new wave of popularity with huge participation increases recorded all around the world. Even more exciting, there are many new faces, player diversity has evolved, which is essential to golf’s health. In the USA, more than 400,000 women took-up or returned to golf in 2020, underscoring the females’ growing interest in golf. Australia´s Vision 2025, the women’s participation strategy, is gradually making an impact at grass roots level. In Scotland the public sector reiterates a strong support for the women´s golf industry and in England Ladies’ County Golf Associations have broken new ground by signing-up to The R&A’s Women in Golf Charter. In Asia, South Korean companies which have been a driving force behind the success of the country´s female golfers, are taking the women’s game to other parts of Asia to help it grow there.

In Japan, the golf spotlight is on female amateur golfers as well. There, a crop of young women players, members of the so-called “golden generation,” are rising stars who are rapidly making their marks on the professional TOURS. Women golfers are also the primary target audience of regional golf campaigns, such as the Beginner´s Golf Day, an initiative successfully implemented by Mie Golf Tourism Organization earlier this year.
