International Golf Travel Trade
MGTO - spearheaded by Ms Shizuho Suzuki - has proactively promoted the golf destination Japan and Mie in particular at five International Golf Tourism Markets, four Asian Golf Tourism Conventions and several North American Golf Tourism Conventions in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.
In September 2018, MGTO – in conjunction with IAGTO – hosted Japan´s very first Golf Tourism Convention (JGTC) in Shima, Mie. MGTO and its partners worked hard to provide the perfect networking platform and to showcase what Mie and Japan have to offer. 50+ international golf tour operators from 25 countries who attended this important event were highly impressed by the quality of golf courses, the culinary experiences, authentic attractions and the Japanese Culture.
Just 14 months later, the Japan Golf Travel Mart - hosted by Japan Golf Tourism Organization (JGTO) of which MGTO is a member of - was held in Shiga. Suppliers from across Japan and 20 select golf tour operators from major source markets attended the successful event.
In addition to these conventions, several educational programs have been implemented.
MGTO has been very active in the organization of fam trips over the past 4 years, a fundamental strategic step in the development of a golf destination. More than 150+ international golf tour operators and media representatives have visited and inspected Mie to learn first-hand about Mie´s Golf and “Golf Plus” offerings. As a consecutive step, compelling products & experiences have been developed and tools and structures have been put in place to make it as easy as possible for the international golf tour operators to promote and sell the golf destination Mie and Japan.
Successful Partnership with EGA Thailand
Mie Prefecture and the East-coast Golf Course Management Association (EGA Thailand) agreed to the Memorandum of Understanding on the Promotion of Regional Cooperation for Golf Tourism on February 2nd, 2016. The cross promotion and bilateral business between MGTO and EGA have been excellent over the past 4 years. This partnership has been highly invaluable for MGTO and goes way beyond economic success. MGTO has learned a lot about golf tourism and about creating superb golf communities from EGA Thailand, the leader of golf tourism in Asia. Equally important – this partnership has created wonderful friendships between Japanese and Thai golfers.
“We are very grateful for this amazing encounter between EGA and Mie and are looking forward to more mutual possibilities and opportunities our friendship will bring”. Shizuho Suzuki
Below is a summary of key projects from this partnership with EGA along some other initiatives of Mie Golf Tourism Organization, Japan.
320 delegates participated in the event, including 130 golf tour operators from 25 countries, all selling golf vacations to golf destinations across the Asia Pacific.
